The main objective of this Discussion Group is the improvement of the design of policies that promote an economically efficient and environment-friendly development of liberalised electricity systems, suited to the requirements of the different countries or regions in Europe and South America. This requires the accomplishment of different sub-objectives, such as: - the review of the effects of liberalisation on the environmental impact of electricity systems, - the analysis and comparison of methodologies for the assessment of the environmental impact of liberalised electricity systems, - the exchange of experiences on the incorporation of environmental aspects into liberalised electricity markets.
